Research topic, current CDI directions
The laboratory is dedicated to promoting state-of-the-art services in genetic counseling. The Center has a network of collaborations in both research and clinical practice at national and international levels. Its members actively collaborate with public and private health care partners, research consortia, professional societies, public policy-making bodies, educational programs and patient associations. The main objectives are:
- to conduct cutting-edge research in genetic counseling, genetic counseling research methodologies and professional implications, psychosocial and ethical issues related to genetics and pharmacogenetics;
improving genetic counseling practices and patient care through adherence to international best practice guidelines;
optimizing the provision of genetic counseling services;
promoting education and training in genetic counseling by developing educational programs, resources and materials for patients, professionals, students, and the general public.
